North, South, Central and everywhere in between. One of the great dilemmas of vacationing in Coronado is deciding where to spend the day from among the many beaches that dot the perimeter of the island. Beaches run along the bay and the ocean, ranging from picturesque coves and favorite surf spots to romantic settings and dog-friendly romping grounds.
Professional lifeguards are on duty at Coronado beaches from 9 a.m. to dusk and are available to provide swimming area information, safety rules, beach conditions and sand-friendly wheelchairs. Public restrooms and beach showers can be found at Central Beach. Dogs are welcome only at Dog Beach on the north side of the island. Beach permits are required for all private events held on a Coronado beach that use any nonstandard beach-related equipment, regardless of the number of people attending. For additional information, call the Recreation Department at (619) 522-7342.
