This historic park was designed in 1886 and earned its name as part of the original City of Coronado plan where the plants were originally landscaped in the shape of a star and the surrounding streets were to radiate off the points. Today, the park is round and features memorabilia and ceremonies to honor the military. The park is the site of two military cannons that were a gift from General Joseph Pendleton, USMC. It also contains a memorial rock that commemorates Coronado’s veterans. The flag pole that stands in memory of all who have served our country was dedicated by the Rotary Club of Coronado in 2003. This park also is the site of an annual Memorial Day ceremony. Located at 1030 Park Place, one block from the Hotel del Coronado.
